Key points
  • Quotes vary because scope varies
  • Compare the monthly fee, not just the build fee
  • Ownership and content are hidden costs
  • Ask for a fixed scope in writing

Ask five Singapore agencies for a website quote and you can get five answers that differ by ten times. That isn't always a sign that someone is overcharging. Usually, each quote describes a different website. This guide explains what drives the price, so you can compare like with like.

The three kinds of website you can buy

Most quotes fall into one of three groups.

  • Template sites. A ready-made theme with your logo, colours and text swapped in. Quick and inexpensive, but they look like other sites and rarely rank for competitive searches.
  • Semi-custom sites. A designed layout built on a proven framework, with a page for each service, proper search foundations and online booking. This is where most clinics, salons and spas get the best return.
  • Fully custom sites. Original design, bespoke features, multiple languages and a content plan. For businesses competing for the most valuable searches in Singapore.

What drives the price

  1. Number of pages. One page per treatment or service costs more to write and build, and it is also what ranks.
  2. Who writes the words. If the agency writes your copy, that is often the largest single cost. If you write it, budget your own time.
  3. Design. A template, a choice of concepts, or a fully custom brand system.
  4. Booking and integrations. Online booking, WhatsApp, payment, a shop, or a link to your clinic system.
  5. Languages. A properly written Chinese version is a second website, not a plug-in.
  6. Photography and video. Real photos of your space and team lift trust more than any design choice.
  7. Rules. Clinic sites must follow MOH advertising rules, and wellness and beauty claims must be honest and supportable. Checking copy takes time.

The monthly fee matters as much as the build

A low build fee can hide a high monthly fee, or the reverse. Ask what the monthly fee covers: hosting, security updates, backups, content changes, SEO articles, Google Business Profile and reporting. Over two years, the monthly fee is often the bigger number.

How to compare quotes fairly

  1. Ask for the page list, not just the page count
  2. Ask who writes and checks the content
  3. Confirm the domain and site are registered in your name
  4. Ask what happens if you leave: can you take the site with you?
  5. Ask for two live sites they built for businesses like yours
  6. Get the scope, timeline and price in writing
